Our Research

Our research topics

The group's main objective is research into paediatric cancers, especially sarcomas. Childhood sarcomas are tumours with low incidence, so some of them are rare diseases. However, these sarcomas have high mortality rates. New and more effective treatments are needed. Our group develops advanced therapies, especially immunotherapies for these tumours. Within the group's priority Research topics we can distinguish:

1

Origin and development of sarcomas

We study of cell population dynamics in sarcomas, with special emphasis on osteosarcoma. We aim to identify mechanisms of immunomodulation to enhance immunotherapies.

2

Cancer

Immunotherapy

Translational research into two types of therapies:

  • The combination of virus and mesenchymal cells (Celyvir) for the treatment of paediatric solid tumours, metastatic or recurrent.

  • CAR-T therapy for the treatment of solid tumours.

3

Rare disease

Cellular therapy

Development of cell therapies with a clear translational orientation in immune-based pathologies or tissue regeneration.
